Throughout my Spring 2026 semester, working in partnership with Act Local with Jeannette and
Sue, this experience has been a great opportunity for growth and learning. From the beginning,
Sue and Jeannette encouraged us to think outside the box when choosing events for our first
assignment.

This helped me better use my resources, whether that meant using artificial
intelligence tools, refining Google searches, or simply paying closer attention to my
surroundings to find relevant events. For our second portion of our second project, we
encountered some difficulties with logging into the website.

However, everything worked out as Sue helped us upload posts, and Jeannette guided us through navigating the website. It was really interesting to see the behind-the-scenes process of adding content and watching our posts get finalized and published. I also learned valuable writing techniques from Jeannette,
such as the inverted pyramid structure, which emphasizes placing the most important and
engaging information at the top to capture the reader’s attention.

Both of my mentors were very attentive and responsive, always providing quick feedback and support whenever we had questions or concerns. I especially enjoyed creating the flyers, as they were both informative and connected well with the blog posts we developed. Overall, this was a very helpful and
rewarding learning experience, and I’m glad I had great mentors along the way.
