About the Event
Community safety doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can be engaging, interactive, and even fun. That’s exactly what the Communities Come Together aimed to deliver. Hosted by the Andy and Aiden Safety Group in collaboration with the Westminster Police Department, Orange County Fire Authority, and Swim Brayv, this free community event brought together local experts and families for a day centered around both education and connection.
Purpose of Event
Those who attended were given a variety of hands-on activities designed to teach essential safety skills in a way that felt approachable and memorable. From learning water safety techniques to practicing how to safely cross the street, participants had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge they can incorporate into their daily lives. There will also be guidance on how and when to call 911, an essential skill that can make a critical difference in emergency situations.
Inclusivity
What made this event especially meaningful was its focus on accessibility and inclusion. People of all ages were welcome. It created an inviting environment where everyone can intake and process the information at their own pace. Whether you’re a parent hoping to teach your child foundational safety skills or simply someone who wants to feel more prepared in everyday situations, there’s something here for you.
What Was Being Promoted
In addition, these services, including us at Every Body Deserves Love (EBDL), had the privilege of tabling at the event. EBDL promoted self-love, community, and inclusion, providing mental health awareness and services (the Heart Circles support group), including community events such as the Beach Day, Strawberry Festival, and Cornhole Tournament. The center of the event was about empowerment, as it allowed people access to the tools, knowledge, and confidence to stay safe while strengthening the sense of community around them. The day brought a mix of fun activities and meaningful engagement.
